I.4.26 Pompeii. May 2005. Entrance, looking south. In the south-west corner of the workshop, upon excavation there were the remains of a hearth or basin. The doorway on the left leads to the large drying? room. Fiorelli said that near to the doorway, one could read: L . POPIDIVM . SECVNDVM AED .DIONYSIVS . L . ROGAT M . CASELLIVM See Pappalardo, U., 2001. La Descrizione di Pompei per Giuseppe Fiorelli (1875). Napoli: Massa Editore. (p.43) According to Della Corte, the artisan Dionysius, established here, was not only tenant, but freedman of the proprietor. This he thought, as a result of these programmes written all to the left of the entrance: L. Popidium L. f. Aed, o. v. f. Dionysius fullo rog(at) liber(tus) [CIL IV 2966] L. Popidius Secundum aed., Dionysius l(ibertus) rog(at) [CIL IV 1041] L. Popidium Secundum aedilem, Pop(idi)us (Donysius) rogat [CIL IV 1045] L. Popidium aed. Dionysius rog(at). In the south-west corner of the workshop, upon excavation there were the remains of a hearth or basin.

The doorway on the left leads to the large drying? room.

 

Fiorelli said that near to the doorway, one could read:

L . POPIDIVM . SECVNDVM

     AED .DIONYSIVS . L . ROGAT

M . CASELLIVM

According to Della Corte, the artisan Dionysius, established here, was not only tenant, but freedman of the proprietor.
